At the post-fight press conference the fighters on stage were each asked who they would like to fight next.
When the mic was passed along to Mirko Cro Cop, he was initially non-committal.
“Well it’s not about who I wish to fight, it’s the UFC’s decision.”
He wasn’t going to get away that easily though, and when pressed to give an answer it turned out the Croatian did have someone in mind after all.
“Well, if I can make a wish then I’d like to fight Dana White first,” he said with a smile as the assembled media broke into laughter.
“Everybody want’s to fight me,” White admitted.
“It will be easy money for me,” said Filipovic, clearly warming to the idea.
“Listen, if Anthony (Perosh) didn’t step up it probably was going to be me,” White quipped, causing Cro Cop to laugh out loud.
It was a moment of light relief in the press conference that gave a rare and welcome glimpse at a different side of the normally camera-shy fighter’s personality.
For the record, he did also suggest that Ben Rothwell is perhaps the fighter he would most like to fight due to their originally planned fight at UFC 110 being canceled. White had earlier confirmed that bout is expected to be rescheduled for some time in the near future.
