New promotion MMA Fight Pit hosted their debut event last night in New Mexico with a host of UFC veterans on the fight card.

In the main event Houston Alexander claimed a TKO victory over Razak Al-Hassan, though the ending was somewhat unfortunate. Al-Hassan broke a finger some time during the second round and in-between rounds a doctor looked at it and deemed he could not continue.

Meanwhile it was a big night for Jens Pulver who produced his biggest win in years against former WEC fighter Coty ‘Ox’ Wheeler who carried a two fight winning streak and 14-3 record into this bout.

Pulver was the dominant fighter from the opening bell, no doubt relieved that Wheeler appeared to have no intention of taking him down. Pulver dropped Wheeler with a left hand in the first round, and floored him again early in the second.

Wheeler got back up but was clearly not recovered and could do little except backpedal away from the oncoming Pulver. Again Pulver clipped him and he fell for a third time, and one final punch on the ground convinced the hesitant referee to step in and end the contest.

Elsewhere on the main card there were mixed fortunes for two former TUF fighters, with Jamie Yager earning a second round submission win, while Junie Browning tapped out due to elbow strikes in the first round of his bout.
