Nate Diaz marked his return to the lightweight division with a stellar performance against Takanori Gomi ths evening at UFC 135.

From the opening bell Diaz was in command, immediately finding his range with long, straight punches.

An early straight left sat Gomi down momentarily and it was only downhill from their for the Japanese fighter as Diaz continued to show off pinpoint accuracy with his work.

As the round progressed Gomi was clearly feeling the effect of the punches and opted to take Diaz down to stop the onslaught.

That proved to be a bad decision as Diaz is more than happy to work his BJJ skills from his back and began fishing for a triangle choke and looked to have it in deep before slickly switching to an armbar to produce the tap with 4.27mins on the clock.

Great performance from Diaz who also looked in the best shape we’ve seen him at lightweight, and with his hands clearly having improved since his last stint in the division it’ll be very interesting to see how he gets on from here.
