After making a big statement at welterweight by defeating Thiago Alves at UFC 130 last weekend, Rick Story has now stepped up to replace the injured Anthony Johnson against Nate Marquardt in the main event of UFC On Versus 4 later this month.

Story had been calling for a fight with Jon Fitch following an impressive 6 fight winning run at 170lbs, but instead he’s jumped at the chance to take on Marquardt who’s moving down to welterweight after a long stint as one of the top 185lbs in the UFC.

A win for either fighter on June 26th could put them right into the title hunt in the division, though both Fitch and BJ Penn are also keen to be considered the next No.1 contender to face the winner of the recently announced October showdown between GSP and Nick Diaz.

At this stage the nature of ‘Rumble’ Johnson’s injury has not been disclosed, but it will surely be a disappointment for the hard-hitting star to miss out on his first main event spot in the UFC, and instead have to sit on the sidelines once again – something he’s become accustomed to after having fought only once in the past year and a half.
