With Alan Belcher pulling out of his headline bout with Demian Maia at UFC Fight Night 22 due to a detached retina the UFC have been forced to shuffle the deck in order to come up with a new main event.
Middleweights Nate Marquardt and Rousimar Palhares were originally set to do battle at UFC 118 later this month, but their fight has now been pushed back to headline the UFN 22 event on September 15th instead.
Marquardt is looking to bounce back after a disappointing loss to Chael Sonnen which dented his title aspirations. Palhares on the other hand is riding a three fight winning streak coming into this fight, though his last bout ended in controversy when he held on to a heel hook after his opponent Tomasz Drwal tapped which resulted in a 90 day suspension.
As for Demian Maia, he will now be scratched from the card entirely and will now be rescheduled for an event later in the year.
