There’s currently a buzz surround the recently formed ‘One FC’ promotion which has plans to become the next big thing in Asian mixed martial arts.

They have certainly been going the right way about it so far. They’ve signed up a host of top talent – though many of the names won’t be familiar to MMA fans since they have drawn Asian stars from other combat sports disciplines such as muay thai, BJJ and boxing.

There’s also a few familiar names dropped into the mix too – ex-UFC fighter Phil Baroni will fight on the debut card in September for instance who will take on another UFC veteran Yoshiyuki Yoshida.

While they are also adopting the cage found in many other leading promotions around the world as opposed to the ring favored by Japanese promotion DREAM, they are also reverting back to the rule set found in PRIDE – meaning things like soccer kicks, stomps and elbows will all be considered legal.

More good news for MMA fans is that the promotion’s inaugural event which takes place in Singapore on September 3rd will stream live on Meanwhile Asian fans will be able to watch the action on ESPN Star Sports, and with Singapore also showing the event on domestic TV ensuring that means some 500 million homes in total will have access to watch the show live on television.

With ‘One FC’ also enjoying the backing of several major investors and having secured advertising deals with notable names this is definitely a promotion that you’ll want to keep a close eye on in the coming months.
