With their co-main event heavyweight clash only days away mma.fanhouse reporter Ariel Helwani took the opportunity to interview both fighters at the UFC media workout session.
A confident Ben Rothwell (30-6), who is making his UFC debut on Saturday night believes he has the tools and experience to make it a rough night for the 6-0 Velasquez.
“He’s never fought anyone as well rounded as me. I’m going to do a lot of things he hasn’t had to deal with before. He has not had to deal with the adversity that I’m going to put on him, and I know he’s not going to be the same after it’s over.”
Cain Velasquez on the other hand appears to be a man who prefers to do his talking with his fists but he admits to being “discouraged” when his original fight with Shane Carwin was cancelled so that Carwin could take a fight with heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.
Despite this he says he hasn’t dwelled on it and confidently states that, “I know I’ll get that chance later.” A convincing win over Ben Rothwell on Saturday night would certainly boost his chances of this becoming a reality.
