Strikeforce’s January 29th will now play host to two title fights with the news that welterweight champion Nick Diaz is set to defend his title against Evangelista ‘Cyborg’ Santos.

The bout will join the previously announced middleweight title bout between ‘Jacare’ Souza and Robbie Lawler which is also scheduled for the show.

Diaz is currently on an eight fight winning streak and claimed the vacant 170lb belt in January after a comfortable win over Marius Zaromskis.  He has since gone on to defend it successfully in a five round scrap with KJ Noons in October, while also finding time to defeat Hayato Sakurai at DREAM 16 in-between times.

‘Cyborg’ can’t match Diaz recent stats, having just a two fight winning streak under his belt, but he looked good in his welterweight debut against Zaromskis in June and his exciting stand-up style is sure to make this a crowd-pleasing fight.
