As always there were some interesting snippets of information to be discovered at the post-fight press conference for this weekend’s UFC 108 event. Here’s a quick look at some of the main talking points.
Brock Lesnar will examined by a doctor in the coming week. The results from that should establish whether he can return to fighting in as little as a few months, or if he will have to have major surgery that could require him to take as much as two years off, or possibly even retire from the sport altogether.
Dana White believes Paul Daley could face either Josh Koscheck or Jon Fitch next, though Daley himself has also thrown Thiago Alves name into the mix. The UK fighter says that fans have yet to see the full extent of his striking skills, and a fight with Alves would be the perfect opportunity to showcase them.
Rashad Evans Vs Quinton Rampage Jackson is likely to place in May. Evans says he is happy to fight Rampage next as he wants extra time to round-out his skill set before fighting for the title.
Kenny Florian Vs new UFC lightweight signing Takanori Gomi is a possibility, but not yet a certainty according to Dana.
White also noted that the estimated buy-rate for UFC 108 is in the 400-500,000 range. If so that will be a solid result for such an injury ravaged event that fell short of the star-studded, blockbuster New Year cards in previous years.
