Former two-time Olympic judo gold medalist Kayla Harrison emerged victorious last night in her MMA debut against Brittney Elkin at PFL 2.
This moment has been been a long time coming for the 27-year-old Harrison, who was fighting at 155lbs, and she performed well, showing off some decent striking before the fight hit the floor and she followed in her former Judo training partner Ronda Rousey’s footsteps by securing a first round armbar submission finish.
“That’s probably the most alive I’ve felt since 2016,” Harrison told MMAjunkie afterwards. “That’s the most Kayla I’ve felt in a long, long time. So it was absolutely worth it.
“I can’t wait to get back in there and do it again. And I can’t wait to train.”
