When the news first broke yesterday that mixed martial arts fighter Tito Ortiz had been arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse relating to his partner Jenna Jameson, the situation looked very grave for the UFC star.

Things are not always as they seem however, and as the day wore on doubts over what had happened began to emerge. Jameson did not require hospital treatment, and despite initial reports appeared to have no visible signs of injury other than an arm brace which she herself had bought at a local health store during the day.

Later in the day Ortiz posted bail of $25,000 from Huntington Beach jail and a media conference was hastily arranged so that he could give offer his side of the story.

From the moment the media gathering started it became clear there may be more to this story than had so far been reported.

“We are here this evening because unfortunately Jenna Jameson has been facing and fighting a battle with OxyContin addiction for well over a year,” Ortiz attorney Chip Matthews stated.

“Unfortunately this morning when Jenna relapsed and Tito confronted her and asked her about the drugs he had found she denied it and had some emotional breakdown over it. As Tito was leaving unfortunately she contacted the police department through another individual.”

Furthermore, Matthews also stated that his client was denying the charges laid against him.

“I want to make it quite clear, Tito Ortiz never laid a hand on Jenna – never.”

At that moment an obviously emotional Ortiz himself interjected to give his own thoughts on the matter.

“I have my attorney talking here man and it means the world to me that, you know, all my fans and family know that I thank them for their support. My parents have gone through an addiction and I’m seeing it in the mirror again, and I’m not going to let my family go through that. I speak from the heart and as I say, I’ll let my man do his job but I hold everything dear to my heart that Jenna will be ok.”

reporters then began to ask questions of the former UFC light-heavyweight champion, but Matthews refused to allow him to answer, noting that his client was still part of an ongoing investigation.

Later Matthews revealed further details of the incident, noting that Jameson’s own father, who had originally phoned the police after her allegations of domestic abuse, had since been supportive of Ortiz after learning of her drug issues, bringing the fighter clothes after he posted bail.

Matthews also noted that Jameson’s only visible injury was a scratch on her elbow.

Footage of the press conference is available to watch at the foot of this article.

After the conference was over Jameson responded to Ortiz allegations of drug use via a number of posts on her twitter account.

“Its sad tito had to resort to attacking my character. I am being strong for my children, and I hope he feels a bit better now”

“I am officially crushed…. I have so much I could say, but I refuse to ruin tito……I will never be the same, I lost the love of my life”

“Surprised so many of you believe titos allegations….imgoingtofocus onhappiness. Goodbye xxxxxx”

Jameson had earlier confirmed to the TMZ site that she had filed a restraining order against Ortiz.
