On Saturday night fans of stand-up wars will be eagerly awaiting the Strikeforce showdown between Melvin Manhoef and Robbie Lawler. Not to be outdone it appears the UFC also have a battle of the strikers in the works for their UFC 115 card between Gilbert Yvel and Pat Barry.

The Las Vegas Sun was the first with the news that both fighters have verbally agreed to the contest, which is set to take place on June 12th in Vancouver, Canada.

Both of these Dutch heavyweights have made no secret of their preference to keep their fights standing where they can unleash their deadly striking skills. Each has proven KO power, with all five of Barry’s MMA victories ending by knockout, and a further nine knockouts on his kickboxing resume, while Yvel has an impressive 31 knockout victories on his record.

Barry is on a high after defeating former training partner and fellow K1 level striker Antoni Hardonk in October. Gilbert Yvel on the other hand had a disappointing debut at the turn of the year when he suffered a technical knockout loss to Junior Dos Santos.
