The UFC has officially confirmed that Phil Baroni will make his return to the octagon against Ultimate Fighters Season 8 winner Amir Saddolah at UFC 106.
Talking to FightHype The New York Bad Ass said that “It’s pretty good to be back in the big show” and he revealed that he’s ready to step back into the spotlight with a win over Sadollah. “I’ve been a journeyman for a couple of years and it sucks. I want to be on the big show and be in meaningful fights, so it’s real important for me to perform well and beat this guy out in “bad ass fashion”, which is by knockout.”
It appears that the outspoken ‘love him or hate him’ fighter will indeed have to prove himself first as he is currently scheduled to fight on the undercard of the event, headlined by Brock Lesnar Vs Shane Carwin. This is likely due to a lackluster performance in his last outing against Joe Riggs at Strikeforce back in June.
Other fights confirmed for the event which takes place on November 21st in Las Vegas include the return of Tito Ortiz as he faces of against another former champion Mark Coleman. Elsewhere Ben Saunders will look to rebound from a defeat at the hands of Mike Swick when he steps into the cage with Marcus Davis who will also be hoping to get back to winning ways after his loss to Dan Hardy. The last of the announced fights for the card so far sees George Sotiropoulos who looked very impressive in his last fight, against Jason Dent who won ‘Submission Of The Night’ in his last outing.
Other fights are yet to be officially confirmed.
