The long awaited showdown between TUF 10 coaches Quinton Rampage Jackson and Rashad Evans has now been officially confirmed for UFC 114.

The bout will headline the May 29th event in Las Vegas during the weekend of the UFC Fan Expo.

An intense rivalry has brewed between the two former light-heavyweight champions ever since they squared off in the cage after Jackson defeated Evan’s close friend Keith Jardine at UFC 96.

Bad blood between the two almost came to boiling point during their stint as coaches on The Ultimate Fighter season 10, with verbal altercations between the two becoming a regular feature of the show, generating a lot of buzz about their eventual fight which had been expected to come after the season finished airing last year.

Of course Rampage’s decision to star in The A-Team big-screen remake, and them announcement that he was retiring from the sport put a major spanner in the works, but thankfully the fighter has now agreed to return, and the two can finally resolve their differences in the cage.

No other fights have been officially announced for UFC 114 at this stage, but the Rampage – Evans bout alone should make this one of the major events that the promotion puts on in 2010.
