Rafael ‘Feijao’ Failed A Drug Test Following His Latest Strikeforce Victory

Former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Rafael ‘Feijao’ Cavalcante is the promotion’s latest star to have failed a post-fight drugs test.

‘Feijao’ took just 33 seconds to apply a fight-ending guillotine choke against Mike Pyle at Strikeforce: Barnett Vs Cormier last month, but the 31 year-old would later be found to have tested positive for a banned substance, though what that was has not been disclosed as yet.

What has been established is that as a result of this ‘Feijao’ has now been suspended for a year and fined $2,500.

It’s been a bad year for Strikeforce so far in this regard, with two other former champions Cris ‘Cyborg’ Santos and Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal also failing post-fight drugs tests which have led to them facing similarly lengthy suspensions.

To make matters worse it leaves Strikeforce with a thread-bare 205lb roster. ‘Feijao’ had been earmarked to fight Gegard Mousasi for the vacant title, but they’ll now have to go back to the drawing board.

Frankly there’s no compelling alternatives as a potential title challenger at their disposal, with Ovince St.Preux who was defeated by Mousasi last time out and Gian Villante who’s lost his last two fights being the only two fighters of note currently residing on the roster.
