The fight card for UFC 130 on May 28th appears to be shaping up quickly. The latest high profile fight to be linked to the Las Vegas event sees light-heavyweight star Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson paired with Thiago Silva.
Verbal agreements are believed to be in place for the bout which is likely to have a prominent place on the card.
Rampage is coming off a close split decision win over Lyoto Machida at UFC 123 in November, while Silva comfortably decisioned Brandon Vera at last week’s UFC 125 event. Both men are 3-2 in their last five fights.
Jackson has been vocal in his desire to fight someone ‘exciting’ who’ll stand and trade with him after fighting both a cautious Rashad Evans and evasive Machida in his last two octagon encounters. Silva would appear to meet his criteria, having won 11 of his 15 career victories by knockout, though it should be noted that he fought more cautiously than we’ve come to expect from him in his last fight.
Given that the card is already rumored to feature Frankie Edgar Vs Gray Maynard 3, and Frank Mir Vs Roy Nelson this is either going to be another stacked event, or perhaps one of these bouts will be moved to another event in due course.
