Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral Will Fight For Bellator In 2013

Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral is the next big name fighter who’s signed up to become a Bellator fighter in 2013 when they begin there new TV deal on Spike TV.

‘Babalu’ is now expected to fight in January as part of Bellator’s season 8 light-heavyweight tournament.

The 36 year-old veteran has compiled an impressive resume over the years, fighting for the likes of the UFC, Strikeforce and Rings.

Amongst his 36 career victories lie opponents such as Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua, Chael Sonnen, Robbie Lawler and Maurice Smith, while his nine losses have come at the hands of legends like Chuck Liddell, Fedor Emelianenko and Dan Henderson.

‘Babalu’ has been quiet recently, spending a year and half out after a KO loss to Henderson in a Strikeforce light-heavyweight title elminator in 2010, but he did return in June to fight for ONE FC, claiming a quick submission win over Tatsuya Mizuno.

Sobral joins other MMA notables such as Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal, Paul Daley and Brett Rogers who’ve also signed on the dotted line to fight for Bellator next year as they gear up to take over from the UFC on Spike TV and attempt to etablish themselves as a genuine challenger to the sport’s leading organization.
