Rescheduled Fights In The Wake Of UFC 151’s Cancelation

The UFC’s decision to cancel next weekend’s UFC 151 event has left them with the task of reassigning the fights to other forthcoming cards, and below we give you a rundown on where they are headed to.

First off, as you’ll more than likely already be well aware by this stage, UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones will now defend his title against Vitor Belfort at UFC 152 on September 22nd.

Belfort was originally scheduled to face Alan Belcher at UFC 153 in October, but it turns out Belcher has an injury so both men are off that card and now a rematch between Phil Davis and Wagner Prado will switch from ‘UFC On FX 5’ to fill the gap.

Also joining Jones Vs Belfort on the UFC 152 card will be another refugee pairing from UFC 151, Kyle Noke Vs Charlie Brenneman.

UFC 151’s planned co-main event between Jake Ellenberger and Jay Heiron now lands on UFC On FX 5 on October 5th.

They’ll be joined by a number of other fights that were in limbo including Dennis Hallman Vs Thiago Tavares, Danny Castillo Vs Michael Johnson and Shane Roller Vs Jacob Volkmann.

Finally, ‘UFC On Fuel TV 6’ in China will now host Jeff Hougland vs. Takeya Mizugaki and John Lineker vs. Yasuhiro Urushitani.

So, while it’s disappointing that we won’t have an event to look forward to next weekend, the good news is that several of the surrounding cards are now being strengthened as a result, and many of the fighters will still be able to look forward to a payday in relatively short order.
