Roy Nelson throws some big punches in the opening minutes of this fight, but doesn’t find his target yet. Meanwhile Mitrione throws some kicks to the head and body, but they are blocked.

Nelson ploughs forwards and clinches up with Mitrione. He’s perhaps looking for a takedown, but it’s not happening. Mitrione reverse the position and they break apart.

The two men exchange punches, with Mitrione adding in another kick for good measure. Mitrione appears to have lost his mouthpiece in the exchange, but he’s continuing on regardless.

The two men size each other up then Nelson steps forward and fires off a big uppercut that connects with Mitrione’s chin. A left and a right follow, but Mitrione was going down anyway.

Nelson stands over his dazed opponent and blasts down with more big punches and with Mitrione just covering up under the blows the referee stops the contest with 2.58mins gone of the first round.
