Former woman’s bantamweight title contender Sara McMann will go up against Jessica Eye at UFC Fight Night 88 in Las Vegas on May 29th.

McMann, who won a silver medal in wrestling at the Olympics, hasn’t been seen in the Octagon since August of last year when she suffered a first round rear-naked choke loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC Fight Night 73.

That was the 35 year-old’s second defeat in a row after also having also coming out on the wrong end of a majority decision loss to Miesha Tate at UFC 183 earlier that same year.

So, McMann, who’s still ranked No.6 in the 135lb division heading into this fight, will look at this as a must-win fight if she’s to remain one of the top contenders in the weight class.

The stakes are very much the same for her opponent though, with Eye being ranked just one place behind her at No.7 in the bantamweight division.

The 29 year-old Eye has been suffering a similar run of form though, also coming off second best against Miesha Tate by unanimous decision at UFC On FOX 16 in July of 2015 and then also losing out on the scorecards against Juliana Pena at UFC 192 last October.

McMann Vs Eye joins a UFC Fight Night 88 line-up that’s set to be headlined by an intriguing match-up between two highly-regarded, rising bantamweight stars, Thomas Almeida and Cody Garbrandt.
