Brazilian fighter Sarah Frota has been handed a two year suspension from the sport by USADA after she tested positive for multiple steroid motabolites during an in-competition test at UFC 240 in Edmunton on July 27th.
The 32-year-old Frota was TKO’d by elbows in her fight with Gillian Robertson at the event and then tested positive for multiple stanozolol metabolites, including 16α-hydroxystanozolol, 3’,16-dihydroxystanozolol, and 4β,16-dihydroxystanozolol as the result of a urine test.
Frota will not be eligible to compete again until July 27th of 2021, but if and when she does return she will no longer be competing in the UFC as the promotion have chosen to release her from her contract.
‘A Treta’ had originally fought her way into the UFC via the Contender Series Brazil, winning via KO in her fight on the show last year to improve her career record to 9-0.
However, she then lost by split decision in her UFC debut against Livinha Souza earlier this year and followed by the TKO loss to Robertson and steroid suspension that’s been enough to convince the UFC not to keep her on the roster.
