Former UFC heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez has become a bit-part player in the sport in the past few years, toiling in a host of small-time events while ballooning up to over 350lbs.
The 32 year-old has found new focus recently though after losing a lot of weight, and now has his sights set on a return to the UFC at 205lbs.
Going into his fight with another former UFC veteran Travis Fulton at the weekend Rodriguez had amassed a five fight unbeaten run, and he extended that to six at the dubiously named ‘Cage Thug’ event as he produced an spectacular head kick KO.
Watch it for yourselves below…
The win takes Rodriguez record to 41-11 and marked the first ever knockout loss of Fulton’s remarkable 250+ fight MMA career.
With Dana White having had a tendency to welcome back former stars like Mark Coleman and Phil Baroni in the past, if Rodriguez can keep up this momentum then perhaps his dream to return to the UFC isn’t beyond the realms of possibility.
