Ever since his infamous TKO victory over Kimbo Slice in just eight seconds at the final Elite XC event in 2008, TUF season 2 alumni Seth Petruzelli has been campaigning to make a return to the UFC, and it appears he’s finally been granted his wish.
Petruzelli announced his return and his first opponent via his twitter account just moments ago.
“Ready for HUGE news?! I’m fighting for UFC 116 July 2nd! In Vegas against Ricardo Romero…its KO time!
Ricardo Romero is the UFC’s newest addition to the roster, posting a 10-1 record in his career to date including a prior submission victory over current UFC heavyweight fighter James McSweeney in April of last year.
Petruzelli himself holds a 12-4 record. Two of those losses came during an unsuccessful first run in the UFC after having reaching the semi-finals of the TUF show.
Since then has only been fighting once a year, but has notched up four victories, three by TKO and most recently a submission victory at UK event BAMMA 3 last month.
