Maurcio ‘Shogun’ Rua got back to his devastating best this evening at UFC 134 in Rio by KO’ing Forrest Griffin in just under two minutes of action.

After a steady start to the fight Shogun stepped in aggressively with a big right hand that caught Griffin flush in the face.

At first Griffin appeared to have absorbed it, but just moments later he dropped forward onto the mat and Rua seized the moment, dropping down a flurry of hammerfists.

As the blows battered down Griffin appeared to be struggling on the edges of conciousness with his arms flailing in the air, leaving the referee with no choice but to step in to save him further punishment.

This was a big win for Rua after the disappointment of his title loss to Jon Jones, and also earns him revenge over Griffin who defeated him in his UFC debut back in 2007.

With a quick and impressive KO win like this he’s now once again in the title hunt, and could possibly be in line for a spot on the ‘UFC On Fox’ fight card in November.
