UFC light-heavyweight champion Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua is the latest subject to be tested in the ‘Sports Science’ lab, and the results are hugely impressive.

Firstly the deadly striker was tested for his punching power, and racked up a rating of 1169lbs of force. Pretty good going, though others, such as former 205lb champion Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson have tested higher before.

The best was still to come though. Next up it was time to test ‘Shogun’s’ infamous kicking power.

The force was staggering – over 2749lbs. That makes it not only the hardest kick ever recorded on the show, but also the hardest ever strike on the show.

That’ll certainly give Rua added confidence as he heads into his first title defense with Jon Jones on Saturday night at UFC 128, while also giving his opponent pause for thought.
