Siyar Bahadurzada got his UFC career off to a perfect start this evening in Sweden by producing a fast KO finish against Paulo Thiago at UFC on Fuel TV 2.
This one was over as quickly as it started. Both men stood off from each other at first sizing up their range for the first 30 seconds before Thiago suddenly charged forward with his head ducked looking for a takedown.
Bahadurzada was ready for him though and threw a short right hand that wasn’t even thrown with full power, but Thiago’s own momentum meant it clipped the Brazilian’s chin hard.
Even when watching the replays the punch itself didn’t seem devastating, but the outcome of it certainly was, with Thiago falling face first onto the canvas, knocked out cold.
So Bahadurzada gets his first win inside the UFC’s Octagon against a respected opponent without even having had to break a sweat, and delivers the first knockout of the night so far.
As big a win as it is for him, it’s as big of a loss for Thiago who’s UFC career is now on shaky ground after losing three of his past four fights, and the night when he himself produced a shock KO over Josh Koscheck in the UFC must feel like a long time ago now.
