Information on Strikeforce’s next event is still thin on the ground, but Scott Coker has finally confirmed a date and destination for it.

“We’ve been putting most of our efforts into the fight (Strikeforce Challengers VI) tomorrow night,” Coker told,  “But we’ll have some announcements next week, for sure. … We will be having a fight in Nashville on April 17, but the rest of the information we’ll be announcing next week.”

WEC officials will no doubt be relieved to hear that despite rumors in recent weeks, the Strikeforce event will not take place on the same night as their first Pay Per View card, April 24th.

On that note,  Coker also stated that Strikeforce are now planning on doing a PPV event of their own this year.

“We’re very happy with Showtime and free television on CBS. But before the end of the year, in the fourth quarter, we’ll definitely have a fight on pay-per-view.”

That aside Coker had little in the way of new information to share, so we are still in the dark regarding whether the April event will be on CBS, and who will appear on the card.

Strikeforce officials had initially suggested that announcements would be made at the end of this week, but it now appears that we’ll have to wait until sometime next week before we’ll be able to put together the pieces of this particular puzzle.
