It appears that Strikeforce have finally managed to negotiate a superfight between current light-heavyweight champion Dan Henderson and Russian star Fedor Emelianenko.

According to sources bout agreements have now been sent to both fighters with a July 30th date in Chicago earmarked for the showdown.

The fight has been in the works for some time, but there were believed to have been negotiations over the exact weight that the bout would take place at, with both a catchweight and a heavyweight contest having been discussed.

In the end Scott Coker has confirmed that the fight will take place at a 220lb catchweight, only 5-10lbs below Fedor’s normal fighting weight, and 15lbs above Henderson’s current 205lb limit.

At one stage there was talk of the fight being the headline attraction of Strikeforce’s first ever pay-per-view event, but that is now off the table and instead it will feature on Showtime.
