A long rumored Strikeforce light-heavyweight match-up between Dan Henderson And Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral is set for a Showtime event on December 4th, according to MMAJunkie.
Henderson was one of the promotion’s biggest ever signing’s, defecting from the UFC after a three-fight winning streak at the end of last year. Since then things haven’t exactly gone according to plan however, with the 40 year-old fighting just once, losing in a middleweight title fight to Jake Shields.
After an extended layoff the former PRIDE and UFC champion will now make a return at light-heavyweight to take on Babalu in a rematch of their February, 2000 fight at the final of RING’s ‘King Of King’s tournament which Henderson won by split decision.
Strikeforce will also welcome back NFL legend Herschel Walker back to the promotion in the december event after a successful debut earlier in the year. The 46 year-old’s opponent has not yet been announced, but the fight will serve as the co-main event of the evening.
Incidentally, it’s worth noting that a December 4th date means that the event, which will take place in St.Louis, could be set to go head-to-head with the UFC’s Ultimate Fighter Season 12 finale.
