Strikeforce revealed they had a big announcement planned for today which got people waiting expectantly for news on Fedor Emelianenko, but instead the promotion unveiled a new event for June 16th in Los Angeles.

The event will see ‘Ruthless’ Robbie Lawler back in action in the headline bout, with Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller rumored to be his likely opponent.

Also announced for the card is former Elite XC champion KJ Noons, and former pro wrestler turned MMA fighter Bobby Lashley. Both fighters opponents are still to be confirmed at this time.

Unusually the event will take place on a Wednesday night at the Nokia Theatre in L.A. The reason for the timing is that the popular video games conference ‘E3’ takes place at the same time, giving a perfect opportunity to promote the forthcoming ‘EA Sports MMA’ title which features Strikeforce as it’s main playable ‘league’.

Tickets for the event go on sale on Saturday 1st May, with a special pre-sale available for Strikeforce email subscribers from tomorrow.
