Strikeforce’s end of year Melendez Vs Masvidal event was watched by an average of 460,000 viewers on Showtime this past Saturday night.

That’s a little below average for the year as a whole and places it at sixth of the eight events broadcast this year.

The show featured two title fights as 155lb champion Gilbert Melendez and 145 woman’s title holder Cris ‘Cyborg’ Santos each successfully defended their belts.

The event had followed a big night of boxing on Showtime which saw the culmination of the ‘Super Six World Boxing Classic’.

Showtime announced last week that they had re-upped their TV deal with Strikeforce until 2014 which will see a further eight fights being broadcast live next year, with the first coming on January 7th during a special free-to-air weekend which should boost the audience numbers considerably.
