Muhammed Lawal, better known as ‘King Mo’ is the latest signing to the Strikeforce roster as they look to strengthen their position as the No.2 promotion in North America. The undefeated 5-0 star has fought at both light heavyweight and heavyweight in his MMA career to date, four of those victories coming in the Japanese promotion Sengoku. Most recently bulldozing through UFC veteran Mark Kerr in just 25 seconds at M1 Global: breakthrough back in August.
The deal will see Lawal fight at light heavyweight for Strikeforce, whilst still allowing the fighter to compete in Japan. Strikeforce will be happy to have secured the services of a potential up and coming star who has gained significant media and fan interest despite only having fought professionally for a little over a year.
It also would seem to be a good move for Lawal who will gain increased exposure in the U.S and wil be able to test himself against a better caliber of opponent with Kevin Randlemann, Mike Whitehead, Renato Sobral and LHW champion Gegard Mousasi currently fighting for the promotion.
