TapouT And Silver Star Brands Sold To Authentic Brands Group

Iconic MMA brands TapouT and Silver Star have been sold to the Authentic Brands Group, a company specializing in brand development and licensing.

TapouT is current the biggest MMA apparel company in the industry with a turnover in the region of $200 million, while Silver Star have also become a major player in this lucrative market.

Details of the exact terms of the deal were not announced, but it is known that both TapouT’s ‘Punkass’ and ‘SkyScrape’ will remain involved in the company along with Silver Star founder Luke Burrett.

“This sport is still in its infancy,” said ABG’s John Salter in a press release announcing the purchase. “We strategically chose these acquisitions as our first big move because we’re getting into the right business at the right time. We’re looking forward to working with the best brands and the best athletes in the world as we transition these two companies into global lifestyle brands with our retail and licensing partners.”

Along with TapouT and Silver Star ABG also acquired the two companies other brands including Hitman Fight Gear and Iron Star.
