Former pro-wrestling superstar turned movie actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was at UFC 119 last night and was full of praise for the sport of mixed martial arts.

“I’m such a big fan.  I’m a big fan of all the fighters and certainly the company,” The Rock told MMAfighting’s Ariel Helwani octagon-side during the event.

It seems that The Rock is a fan of UFC president Dana white too, and he sat with him during some of the fights.

“Dana’s obviously such a passionate guy, such an incredibly passionate promoter.  At the end of the day he just wants to see great fights and he puts together great fights so it’s always great to see him, and not only that it’s great to watch the fights with him to get that perspective too.”

The Rock became an international icon thanks to his career in pro-wrestling, but he admits that if MMA had been as popular as it is now when he was first starting out, he’d have loved to have given it a go.

“Oh man, there’s no question about it.  I love this sport and I’ve thought about competing, competing in the octagon.  It’s something that I would have loved to do.  But I went another route…I’m too handsome…I had to go another route – to Hollywood.”
