last month rumors circulated that the UFC were set to counter-program Strikeforce’s Nashville event on April 17th with a live event of their own, but this was later discovered that this was little more than speculation which UFC president Dana White had been happy to encourage in order to unsettle their rival promoter.

Though they won’t be putting together a live event it has now been announced that they will be replaying the recent UFC 110 pay-per-view event on Spike TV at the same time as Strikeforce’s event airs on CBS.

UFC 110 was the promotions first ever event in Australia and featured a heavyweight headline bout between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Cain Velasquez, with Michael Bisping Vs Wanderlei Silva serving as the co-main event.

This move does not come as a surprise as the UFC have had a tendency to counter-program their major rivals events in the past, including putting a re-airing of UFC 102 up against Strikeforce’s first CBS show in November.

While CBS reaches a far wider audience the UFC’s hope is that the re-run will attract a significant portion of the potential audience away from Strikeforce’s offering on the night.
