The ratings are in and the 3rd episode of TUF: Live drew an average audience of 1.2 million viewers on FX this past Friday night.
That’s up 100,000 from the previous week’s edition, but still significantly below expectations for the newly revamped show which features a live elimination fight at the end of every episode, falling more in line with the much maligned TUF 13 season starring Brock Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos which produced similarly disappointing ratings on Spike TV last year.
Despite the lackluster start UFC President Dana White insists that there’s no need to panic, telling MMAJunkie, “Spirits are high around here. Everything is good.”
“Believe me, the way that FX deals with their programming and how they handle it, they’re so analytical. These guys are like [expletive] rocket scientists how they break this stuff down and look at it. Trust me, everything is positive over there.”
One thing to bear in mind is that we’re currently in the middle of ‘March Madness’ which always has an effect on TV ratings so it may be that as we move into April and things settle down again that the numbers will start to increase.
Hopefully as the season continues more people will also become accustomed to the fact that the show has now moved to FX and has switched to a Friday night time slot.
