UFC light-heavyweight figher Thiago Silva won’t be returning to the Octagon any time soon after been handed a one year suspension for faking a drugs test conducted following his victory over Brandon Vera at UFC 125 in January.

In addition to the suspension handed down by the Nevada State Athletic Commssion Silva will also have to pay a $33,750 fine.

After the NSAC revealed recently that both his A and B samples were “not human” Silva publicly admitted that he had used a synthetic urine sample to hide the fact that he was using an illegal drug.

According to Silva the reason for his drug use was due to a well documented back problem that has plagued him for a number of years and forced him to sit out much of the last two years.
