Brazilian light-heavyweight fighter Thiago Silva has pulled out of his bout with Tim Boetsch at UFC 117 on August 7th.

It’s believed an injury has prevented him from competing though there’s no official word on the exact nature of the problem just yet. Silva is known to have had significant problems with his back recently though which required surgery earlier this year.

Silva was looking to bounce back strongly at UFC 117 after losing two of his last three bouts including a defeat by Rashad Evans at the turn of the year.

With less than two weeks until the event UFC officials will now be looking to quickly find a replacement to face Boetsch who is set to begin his second spell in the promotion after being cut last year. He has since notched up three wins in smaller promotions to pave his way back to the sports biggest stage.
