It’s come as no great surprise that a heavyweight clash between Tim Sylvia and Brett Rogers has now been withdrawn from DREAM’s New Year’s Eve event in Japan.
The fight was put in jeopardy when Rogers was sentenced to 60 days in jail after pleading guilty to assaulting his wife recently, meaning that he would only get back out a couple of weeks before the bout.
Rogers emerged from jail on Tuesday only to discover that he had been denied a Visa to fight in Japan.
As a result former UFC heavyweight champion Sylvia has also been pulled from the event which takes place on December 31st at the Saitama Super Arena.
DREAM officials still hope to put on the Sylvia Vs Rogers fight at a later date however.
In the mean time there will still be top-flight heavyweight action at the event, with Fedor Emelianenko locked in to fight Satoshi Ishii in the main event.
