Titan FC 20 kicked off a marathon weekend of MMA events last night and the card produced some interesting results.
In the main event former WEC and UFC vet Jamie Varner suffered an upset, slumping to a unanimous decision defeat against late replacement Dakota Cochrane.
Despite his opponent now holding an impressive 11-1 record this was a tough loss for the former WEC champion to take as it left him with a 1-4-1 record since returning from a year long injury in January of 2010.
In the aftermath of the event Varner announced his retirement on Facebook.
“I gave fighting another shot I need 2 thank u guys 4 ur support! But I just don’t have it anymore. Love u all but ull never c me fight again.”
Meanwhile former Strikeforce heavyweight fighter Brett Rogers lost to Eddie Sanchez by split decision after a relatively uneventful fight.
Rogers has not had his troubles to seek recently after being arrested for alledgedly beating his wife. Just days before the fight he came to a plea deal for the case which saw him pleading guilty to one count of third-degree assault while escaping three other charges.
A promising fighter for Strikeforce earlier in his career, Rogers has also found troubled waters inside the cage over the past couple of years and has now recorded just one win in his last fight fights.
