Arguably the biggest main event of a Fight Night for several years between Tito Ortiz and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has had to be scrapped after Ortiz suffered a head injury in training.

An accidental headbutt apparently left Ortiz requiring 22 stitches and suffering from a concussion which means he’ll be unable to compete at the March 26th event.

Instead, Phil Davis, who only recently had been lined up to face Jason Brilz at UFC 129, will now step in to fight Nogueira.

Davis impressed last year with a four fight winning streak in the promotion, but he’s not yet faced anyone of ‘Lil Nog’s’ caliber so this is a major test for him.

The fact that he’s now got just over a month to prepare for a different opponent, only adds to the challenge.  On the other hand though he now gets the chance to headline an event for the first time, and a win over Nogueira would be a massive boost for his career.

As for Nogueira, the change in opponent shouldn’t affect his training camp too much as, Like Ortiz, and Ryan Bader who he fought last time out, Davis is primarily a wrestler who also likes to stand and trade at times.
