Tom Aspinall vacated his UFC heavyweight title a few days ago due to still having ongoing complications with his eyes that currently means he isn’t able to get cleared to compete, and now he’s confirmed that his podcast has also come to an end as he begins a complete break away from social media.
Aspinall released the 13th and final episode of his podcast yesterday, featuring an extended interview with his advisor and boxing promoter Eddie Hearn.
At the conclusion of the show Aspinall then briefly addressed the fact that the podcast was coming to an end, at least for the time being.
“I mean, I’ve really enjoyed it, but moving forward, I don’t think I’ll have enough time to focus on podcasting for now,” Aspinall told his friend and podcast co-host Charlie Moose. “So maybe we’ll come back to it for one day, but for right now, I’m just focusing on getting back to fighting, that’s my focus. That’s all I wanna do. So thanks to everyone for listening. Thanks for supporting me through all the bad times as well. And I’ll see you soon.”
His co-host Moose has since posted an additional update on the comments section of the podcast on YouTube to give some more details on why the decision had made, and revealed that Aspinall will be posting an additional brief message to fans in the coming days.
“Hi guys, it’s Charlie just jumping on,” Moose wrote.
“As Tom explained earlier this week he is stepping away from social media for the time being while he focuses fully on his recovery.
“It’s obviously not been the year any of us would have wanted, especially Tom, and ultimately his health has to come before everything else.
“We actually filmed the podcast back in February and March. The original plan was always to release the podcast during the week, with UFC, training and MMA content continuing at the weekends. Unfortunately, after Tom sustained an injury during the build-up to the fight planned for later this year, that side of the content understandably wasn’t able to happen.
“I completely understand some of the frustration around that, but we wanted to finish the podcast series we had already filmed, and this episode will be the final one.
“To everyone who has stuck with us, watched the episodes and supported Tom and the channel over the last few years, thank you. It genuinely means a lot.
“A massive thank you as well to Ste, who has filmed and edited the entire series and has been such a huge part of this YouTube channel as Tom’s camera operator and editor.
“There won’t be any regular content for the foreseeable future while Tom focuses on his recovery. He has recorded a short message for you all which we’ll share in the coming days.
“We hope you’ve enjoyed the podcast, and thank you again for all the support you’ve shown us over the last few years.”
