Chael Sonnen is currently attending a hearing with the California State Athletic Commission which we’ll have full details of later on in the day, but for the mean time we wanted to bring you the breaking news emerging from it.

According To Sonnen, Michael Bisping and himself are currnently under consideration by the UFC for a coaching role on The Ultimate Fighter Season 14.

Not only that, but a resulting fight between the two would go on to establish the next No.1 contender for Anderson Silva’s middleweight title.

The chances of this becoming a reality hinge on the outcome of both the CSAC and a subsequent NSAC (Nevada State Athletic Commission) hearing as he needs to be licensed there in order to take the opportunity.

Meanwhile, there’s another twist in the tale as Sonnen claims that if CSAC doesn’t grant him his license then his career will be over.

“If I don’t get my license today I’m effectively retired. That came from the boss, Dana White,” Sonnen said.

The hearing is still ongoing, and we’ll have a separate article with the results later on, so stay tuned.

Update: The CSAC hearing ruled to uphold Sonnen’s current indefinite suspension, effectively ending his chances of appearing on TUF or fighting again in the near future. Read more on this story here.
