The UFC today officially revealed the fight card for UFC 115 which takes place in Vancouver, Canada on June 12th.
With the full card now revealed we can confirm that rumors that Tito Ortiz had pulled out of his fight with fellow TUF 11 coach Chuck Liddell were true. The headline bout will now see Liddell make his return to the UFC to face Rich Franklin who will be making his light-heavyweight debut at the event.
Former PRIDE star Mirko Cro Cop also features on the card, looking to build on his win over Anthony Perosh at UFC 110 when he takes a fighter who also has a reputation for fearsome leg-kicks, Pat Barry.
With notable wins over Josh Koscheck, Jacob Volkmann and most recently Mike Swick since joining the UFC, Brazil’s Paulo Thiago could put himself firmly in the welterweight title hunt if he can overcome another tough challenger in the shape of Denmark’s Martin Kampmann.
Two heavyweight stars hunting for their first win in the octagon, Gilbert Yvel and Ben Rothwell are also set to do battle on the UFC 115 main card. Both men are experienced enough to know that this is a must-win fight and with the two possessing KO power this one is unlikely to go the distance.
Carlos Condit earned a hard fought win over Jake Ellenberger in his last visit to the octagon, and next up he takes on one of the welterweight division’s top up and coming prospects Rory MacDonald who made a successful debut in the promotion against Michael Guyman at UFN 20.
An intriguing bout on the preliminary portion of the card sees a recipient of no less than five ‘Fight Of The Night’ awards, Tyson Griffin, and you wouldn’t bet against him adding a sixth considering he will be taking on the fast rising lightweight contender Evan Dunham who will be looking to claim his fourth straight victory since joining the UFC last year.
