UFC president Dana white was clearly not a happy man after a lackluster UFC 119 fight card last night that was marred by uninspired performances and dubious judging decisions.
Normally White has plenty to say for himself after the fights, but on this occasion a lot can be read into the fact that he skipped his customary post-fight interview with Ariel Helwani, and was short with many of his answers to the media at the post-fight press conference.
A quick look at his twitter account gives a fair idea of his feelings on the fights however.
“Boy was I wrong about this one,” White wrote during the three round snooze-fest that was Melvin Guillard Vs Jeremy Stephens which White, amongst a number of others, had predicted would be a strong contender for fight of the night.
“The fight sucked,” was his blunt assessment later.
“This is MUCH better,” he then wrote as Sean Sherk and Evan Dunham began to put on an entertaining battle in the second fight of the main card.
His mood quickly turned sour minutes later however.
“Robbed! Judging f*cking SUCKS!!!!” he wrote angrily after Dunham dropped to a controversial split decision loss.
Ryan Bader Vs Antonio Rogerio Nogueira also failed to excite the crowd, though the UFC’s head honcho seemed willing to make some allowances for them on this occasion.
“Tech fight, nogs a great fighter and both guys had a lot on the line.”
And for the record White appeared to believe the decision was just on that occasion, telling fans he thought, “Bader won that fight.”
White notably fell silent during the main event between Frank Mir and Mirko Cro Cop, however, 14 minutes of which were painfully boring to watch.
Action’s speak louder than words though, and you can get a good idea about how White felt about that by the fact that despite Mir KO’ing the PRIDE veteran in the final minute of the bout, no ‘Knockout Of The Night’ bonus was awarded after the event.
The next day he was back on twitter though letting fans know exactly how he felt about it.
“There were some great fights last night and the main event was not one of them,” he told one fan.
“We all should get 15mins of our life back,” he said to another.
