If the figures are confirmed by the athletic commission then the 17,133 spectators who filled the o2 Arena in London, England this evening will have broken the promotion’s previous European attendance record.

Despite criticism over the fight card which relied heavily on UK fighters, British fans snapped up tickets quickly for the event, and in the end additional seats had to be added to the arena to meet demand.

It’s certainly a fine achievement for the company, though it should be noted that the reported $2.34 million gate still falls short of the $2.7 million generated at UFC 75 several years ago.

As it stands the attendance does break into the top 10 ever in the UFC worldwide at No.9, slotting in just behind UFC 103: Belfort Vs Franklin which drew 17,428.

The officially verified figures should be announced early next week.
