With just days to go until he meets Yoshihiro Akiyama in the main event of UFC 120, Michael Bisping has released a new video blog which focuses on his battle to make weight.

“I’m a little heavier this time than normal,” Bisping somewhat sheepishly admits to the UFC’s Burt Watson or as Joe Rogan likes to call him, ‘the babysitter to the stars.’

“I’ve been panicking a little bit you know what I mean, but it’s all good, I’m going to do it. I’ll do whatever it takes” ‘The Count says with a laugh.

Currently Bisping weighs 198lbs. By Friday he’ll need to get down to a maximum of 186lbs or face a fine and risk angering the UFC bosses.

It’s a significant amount, but not out of the ordinary in MMA. It is a relatively new process for Bisping though who in the past has tended to stick closer to the middleweight limit to ensure he doesn’t have any issues with weight-cutting.

The 185lb is competitive though and fighter’s need every advantage they can get if they want to make it to the top. That’s why Bisping has embarked on a new strength & conditioning program recently, and assuming he can still comfortably make weight then that means we should be seeing the biggest, strongest version of the Brit at middleweight to date come Saturday night.
