Nate Marquardt stars in the main event of November 13th’s UFC 122 event in Germany knowing that a win over Yushin Okami will earn him another shot at the middleweight belt.

It’s an opportunity he’s determined not to waste.

“The main thing for me is to win this fight. I don’t care if it’s a submission, a knockout, I’m not going to give up in this fight and I’m going to win this fight,”
he says with conviction in his pre-fight interview with

Despite his positive mindset Marquardt is well aware of what skills Okami bring’s to the table however.

“Okami is a very strong opponent. He’s physically strong, he’s tall, he’s long, he has good base – good Judo base. He’s well rounded in every area.”

‘The Great’ feels confident that he has devised a gameplan to counteract the Japanese fighter’s style.

“There’s certain areas ways he likes to fight and certain ways he doesn’t like to fight and so, the more I can push him the direction he doesn’t like to fight, the better for me.”
