For a long time solving Lyoto Machida’s elusive counter-striking style was one of the biggest mysteries in the sport and became a hot topic of discussion amongst fans, fighters and the media.
In his first fight with Machida his fellow countryman Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua showed that leg kicks were one way to get to the Karate master. It seems however that Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson’s strategy is a little more rudimentary.
“I’m not worried about Machida or his kicks or his punches, I’m not worried about it. I’ve probably got to take a few punches to give a few punches and I like that. I don’t mind getting punched,” Rampage says in his pre-fight interview for UFC 123 with UFC.com.
“I’m going to fight my fight; I’m not fighting his fight at all. I just hope Machida comes to fight, to consider the fans and put on an exciting fight.”
