On Saturday night Spike TV played host to two live prelims from the UFC 129: GSP Vs Shields fight card, and ratings released today show that they drew an average of 1.5 million viewers.
That’s about on par with the average for prelim shows on the station since they began back in September of 2009, and is up 200,000 from UFC 128 back in March. It still falls some way behind the record of 2 million who tuned in for UFC 126 back in February however.
In addition Saturday’s show pulled in a 1.0 household rating, plus a 1.3 amongst men 18-49, and a 1.5 for men aged 18-34, their two most coveted demographics.
In a first for the UFC, all of UFC 129’s prelims were aired in one form or another, with five being broadcast live on Facebook prior to the Spike TV broadcast. Unfortunately viewing figures for the Facebook card have not been released.
